How are the costs of Judes diapers composed?Updated 2 months ago

Indeed, the absolute majority of our costs are incurred in the manufacturing of Judes. It is extremely important to us to only use the best materials and to have them manufactured in Europe. This is why most of our costs arise here.

The second cost factor is our employees. We pay fair wages and do not want to compromise in this area either.

The next major area of cost is marketing - of course, we want to make as many parents as possible aware of diapering sustainably.

Additional costs arise from logistics, software, etc. As you can see, however, the largest portion of our revenue actually goes into the product (into its manufacturing).

We want to emphasize once again that the quality of Judes and the ethics of manufacturing are uncompromisingly important to us. For example, we would not produce in China, since the human rights situation there (particularly in the regions from which the cotton comes) does not align with our values.

If you find Judes to be expensive, I want to present a comparison to you: A similar amount of fabric is used in a T-shirt as in a cloth diaper from Judes. Would you be surprised if a T-shirt made of organic cotton cost €16? Probably, you’d find it surprisingly cheap, right? I can imagine you're surprised by the price because you're comparing Judes with other cloth diapers. However, these usually use much less fabric, a different weave, and are not made of organic cotton. These factors are crucial for why Judes work so well and are much thinner than other cloth diapers.

We hope this helps in understanding how our prices are structured! 🙂 We have chosen only the best of the best in terms of material quality, design, ethics in manufacturing, and sustainability. We use 12 layers of organic cotton, a special weave made just for us, the best hook-and-loop fastener in the industry, produce with a high-class manufacturer, our covers are double-layered and made from recycled plastic bottles, and much more.

Thus, if you are looking for the cheapest provider, Judes is not the right choice.

By the way: You still end up spending more money on disposable diapers - especially when you consider the prices of the supposedly "sustainable" disposable diapers.
