Every plastic product sheds microplastics. However, studies have shown that polyester covers - especially high-quality polyester like in our Judes covers - release only negligible amounts of microplastics (Source). 
The less often the cover is washed, the less microplastic is released. For this reason, among others, we have designed our system so that the cover can be aired out and reused often before it needs to be washed.
